Well...

Here we are.

A brand-new month.

Welcome to August.

I have to admit, I'm excited about this one because I'm doing something a little different than I've done before.

A while back, I came across a list of nine different words that could be used to describe ourselves.

I wrote them down months ago and tucked them away without giving them much more thought.

Then, the other day, I happened to run across that list again.

Funny how that happens.

Sometimes you find exactly what you need at exactly the right time.

As I looked over those nine words, an idea came to mind.

Why not use each one as the title for a different day during August?

Instead of simply writing another daily reflection, I thought it would be interesting to let each word guide the conversation.

Almost like opening a different door every time I sit down to write.

I really like that idea.

It gives me the opportunity to be even more open.

Even more honest.

And maybe share a little more of myself along the way.

When I thought about those words, I realized something else.

At one point or another, I've probably been every one of them.

Maybe not all at the same time.

Maybe not every day.

But throughout life, I've experienced different seasons that brought out different parts of who I am.

Some days, one word describes me perfectly.

Other days, it's a completely different one.

I have a feeling many of you can relate.

Life has a way of stretching us.

Teaching us.

Changing us.

Helping us grow into people we never imagined we'd become.

That's part of the beauty of the journey.

One thing I've always enjoyed about writing these blogs is being able to share pieces of that journey with you.

Sometimes it's something funny.

Sometimes it's something that made me stop and think.

Sometimes it's simply an ordinary moment that turns into a bigger conversation.

Whatever it is...

It's real.

And I hope that honesty continues to come through.

If one blog encourages someone...

If another makes someone smile...

If another helps someone see things from a different perspective...

Then sitting down each day to write is well worth it.

That's one of the things I appreciate most about this little community we're building.

We may all be living different lives.

Different stories.

Different experiences.

Yet for a few moments each day, we meet right here.

And I think that's pretty special.

So welcome to August.

A new month.

A new approach.

A new collection of thoughts.

And hopefully, a few conversations that make us laugh, reflect, and maybe even learn something new about ourselves.

I'm looking forward to seeing where these nine words take us.

I hope you'll enjoy the journey just as much as I will.
