Today Was That Day
DAILY BLOG
My post content
Today was that day.
A good day for me.
A day where it was just me, myself, and I.
And honestly...
I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
I guess you could say I've become somewhat of an introvert.
It wasn't always that way.
There was a time when I enjoyed always being around people, always having something to do, always being on the go.
Life has a way of changing us.
Or perhaps...
Life simply helps us discover parts of ourselves we hadn't taken the time to understand before.
Maybe that's what happened to me.
Maybe I simply needed to learn how to love me first.
That thought alone has changed so much about how I view my time.
I think when we haven't learned to appreciate ourselves, we sometimes travel roads that were only meant to teach us lessons.
We spend so much time trying to be enough for everyone else that we forget to ask whether we're enough for ourselves.
The beautiful thing is...
We are so much more than what we can offer other people.
Being alone doesn't automatically mean being lonely.
I've learned that.
In fact, spending time by yourself for more than just a few moments can teach you things that the busiest room never could.
You begin listening to your own thoughts.
You begin noticing your own peace.
You begin appreciating your own company.
Peace and quiet.
Me time.
My time.
Those things have become valuable to me.
Today, I finally took a day off.
A real day off.
Now, that doesn't mean I spent the entire day doing absolutely nothing.
Far from it.
I still had places to go.
Things to accomplish.
Ideas to explore.
But today, I was moving at my own pace.
I was getting my private "me" time on.
I drove around my city.
Visited a few other nearby cities.
Not because I had somewhere important to be.
But because I simply wanted to see where the day might take me.
There's something refreshing about having nowhere you're required to rush to.
You begin noticing things you would normally drive right past.
A coffee shop.
A bookstore.
A quiet neighborhood.
A park you've never visited before.
Sometimes the destination isn't the point.
The journey is.
More than anything, today became a day of self-care.
And I loved every moment of it.
I treated myself as though I mattered.
Because I do.
And so do you.
There is nothing wrong with making yourself a priority every now and then.
There is nothing wrong with choosing peace over pressure.
There is nothing wrong with enjoying your own company.
In fact, I think it's healthy.
The interesting thing about being relaxed is that creativity seems to find you when you least expect it.
Ideas begin flowing.
Thoughts become clearer.
Problems don't seem nearly as overwhelming.
Maybe that's because peace creates room for inspiration.
I wouldn't mind having more days like this.
Matter of fact...
I think I'll make sure I do.
Life moves quickly enough.
Sometimes we have to intentionally create moments where we simply enjoy being present.
Today reminded me of that.
So as I end today's reflection, I hope you find time to enjoy yourself too.
Whether that's taking a walk...
Exploring your city...
Reading a book...
Listening to music...
Or simply sitting in complete silence for a while.
Whatever brings you peace...
Make time for it.
You deserve it.
May you have a few days to yourself every now and then.
May you accomplish the things that matter most.
And may you never feel guilty for taking care of yourself.
After all...
You have to spend every day with you.
Why not make that relationship a good one?
Until tomorrow...
Take care, and enjoy the journey.
