Thursday: Junk Drawers

Almost every home has a junk drawer.

Nobody plans for it.

It just happens.

One day a drawer becomes a temporary place for random items.

Years later, it's packed with batteries, rubber bands, keys, receipts, pens that may or may not work, and things nobody remembers storing there.

The funny thing is that we rarely throw the contents away.

We keep them.

Just in case.

Maybe that's because life has its own junk drawers.

Old memories.

Forgotten hobbies.

Lessons from jobs we no longer have.

Skills we rarely use.

Conversations we haven't thought about for years.

We store more than we realize.

Most of it seems unimportant at the time.

Then one day we need something.

A piece of advice.

An old experience.

A lesson someone once taught us.

And somehow it's still there.

Ready to be used.

Life has a way of connecting things we never expected.

What seemed meaningless can suddenly become valuable.

That doesn't mean we should hold onto everything.

But it does remind us that few experiences are truly wasted.

Even the random pieces may serve a purpose someday.

Much like the contents of a junk drawer.

Something to think about: What is something you learned years ago that unexpectedly became useful later in life?
