The Survivor

DAILY BLOG

My post content

Today's title could probably mean something different to each and every one of us. When I hear the word survivor, my mind doesn't go to just one thing. It goes in a lot of different directions.

Some people have survived a serious illness.

Some have survived losing someone they loved.

Some have survived a difficult childhood.

Others have survived heartbreak, financial struggles, natural disasters, or simply seasons in life they never thought they would make it through.

The list could go on and on.

When I really sat with today's title, I realized that surviving isn't always about making the evening news or having a story that everyone knows about. Sometimes surviving is much quieter than that. Sometimes it's simply getting up every morning when yesterday tried to convince you not to. Sometimes it's finding the strength to keep going even when life feels heavier than usual.

I know I've had moments where I looked back and thought, "I made it through that." At the time, I wasn't thinking about surviving. I was just trying to make it to the next day, solve the next problem, or figure out the next step. Looking back now, I realize those moments helped shape who I am today.

I also think we pass by survivors every single day without even knowing it. The person standing in line at the grocery store. The coworker you see every morning. Your neighbor. A family member. Even a stranger walking down the street. We never really know what someone has already overcome just to make it to today.

That's one of the reasons I try not to judge people too quickly. We all carry something. Some stories are easy to see, while others stay tucked away where only the individual knows about them.

One thing I admire about survivors is their resilience. Life may knock them down, but somewhere inside they find a reason to keep moving. It might not be easy. It might take time. They may have to stop and rest along the way, but they keep going. I think that's something worth respecting.

If I could leave one thought with today's blog, it would simply be this. Never underestimate what you've already made it through. Sometimes we're so busy looking ahead that we forget to appreciate how far we've already come. The things that once felt impossible are now memories. The days that once felt overwhelming eventually became chapters we turned the page on.

If you're reading this today, give yourself a little credit. You may be stronger than you realize. You may have survived more than you give yourself credit for. And if you're still in the middle of something difficult, I truly hope you keep going. One day, you'll be able to look back and realize you survived that too.

Just something that crossed my mind today.

Happy Tuesday and until next time.
