The Heat Is On
DAILY BLOG
My post content
The heat is on.
Today, I thought it would be a good idea to head out and run a few errands.
The only problem?
It was around 115 degrees outside.
Now, if you've never been to Arizona during the summer, let me tell you...
It gets hot.
Really hot.
Of course, one thing you'll hear people say is,
"At least it's a dry heat."
And honestly...
There's some truth to that.
I'll take Arizona's dry heat over high humidity any day.
As I was driving around town, I happened to glance at the temperature reading on my car.
It read...
119 degrees.
I looked at it twice.
There was no way it could actually be that hot...
Or could it?
Either way, I wasn't about to stand outside long enough to find out.
I had a few errands to take care of, so I kept moving.
One of my stops was to pick up some fresh fruits and vegetables.
When I arrived, there was already a line of people waiting.
Thankfully, there was a tent overhead that gave us a little shade.
The only thing missing...
Was some air moving through it.
Even with the shade, you could tell the heat wasn't playing around.
It was one of those afternoons where everyone was quietly hoping the line would move just a little faster.
As I looked around, I noticed several children waiting with their families.
Poor little ones.
They looked like they were absolutely roasting.
Kids usually love being outside, but even Arizona has days when it's simply too much.
Thankfully, I was doing okay.
Matter of fact...
I was as cool as a cucumber.
No pun intended.
Well...
Maybe just a little.
Once I finished there, I had a few more places to stop before calling it a day.
A couple of hours later, everything on my list was checked off.
Mission accomplished.
As I was driving home, I started thinking about Arizona.
I've lived here my entire life.
I've experienced countless summers just like this one.
And honestly...
I don't think I'd trade it for anywhere else.
Could I see myself visiting other places?
Absolutely.
I enjoy experiencing different cities, different scenery, and different ways of life.
Travel has a way of opening your eyes to new perspectives.
If the opportunity presents itself, I'd gladly spend time somewhere new.
But when it's all said and done...
Arizona is still home.
Every place has something unique about it.
For us...
It's definitely the sunshine.
And plenty of it.
Vitamin D certainly isn't hard to come by around here.
I'll gladly soak it up when the time is right.
Of course, there's also wisdom in knowing when to head back indoors.
Sometimes the best plan is to enjoy the outdoors early in the morning or later in the evening when the temperatures become a little more forgiving.
If you've never experienced an Arizona summer, let me offer one piece of advice.
Come prepared.
Bring plenty of water.
Dress for the weather.
Don't underestimate the sun.
And if you can...
Plan your adventures for the cooler parts of the day.
You'll thank yourself later.
Well...
Those were my adventures for today.
The errands are done.
The fruits and vegetables are home.
And thankfully...
So am I.
Happy Wednesday, everyone.
Stay cool.
Stay hydrated.
And until next time...
