The Explorer

Have you ever looked at something and thought, "I wonder what's over there?"
Maybe you've taken a different road just to see where it goes. Maybe you've walked into a store you've never been in, tried food you've never had, visited a new place, or simply decided to get out of the house and see what the day had waiting for you.
That's explorer energy.
And I don't think you have to travel across the world to have it.
Sometimes exploring is as simple as getting in your car and driving around a part of your city you've never really paid attention to. I've done that myself. There are times when I just like getting out, moving around, seeing what's nearby, and letting the day unfold a little. You never know what you'll come across.
Explorers are usually curious about life. They want to see things for themselves. They want to experience something instead of always hearing about it from somebody else. A picture or a story can give you an idea, but there is something different about actually being there.
I think that's part of what makes exploring so much fun. You don't always know what you're going to find.
Maybe you'll discover a new favorite place. Maybe you'll meet someone interesting. Maybe you'll find something that inspires you. And sometimes, you may not find anything exciting at all. That's okay too. At least you went looking.
I've also found that exploring isn't always about places. Sometimes we're exploring ourselves. We try something new and discover that we actually enjoy it. We take on something we never thought we'd do. We change our routine and realize we've been doing things the same way for so long that we forgot there were other options.
Life can get comfortable. There's nothing wrong with that. But staying comfortable all the time can also keep us from discovering what's outside of what we already know.
Now, I'm not saying you have to say yes to everything. Some things are better left alone, and sometimes your instincts will tell you when something isn't for you. Exploring doesn't mean throwing all caution out the window. It simply means being open enough to experience something different when the opportunity comes along.
Maybe you've been saying, "I'll do that someday." Take that trip. Visit that place. Try that restaurant. Take that class. Go to that event. Take the scenic route. Whatever it is, maybe it's time to stop talking about it and actually do it.
And if you don't feel like going far, don't. You might be surprised by what you can discover right where you are.
I think that's one of the best things about being an explorer. You don't necessarily need a destination. Sometimes the experience is the destination.
So keep your eyes open. Pay attention. Try something different every now and then. Let yourself be curious.
You never know what you might discover when you stop doing everything the same way.
As for me, I'll keep getting out, looking around, asking questions, learning something new, and seeing where the next idea or adventure takes me.
Maybe that's just how I see it.
Just something that crossed my mind today.
Until next time.
