Sunday: Guest Room
DAILY BLOG
My post content
A guest room is an interesting space.
Most of the time, it sits quietly waiting.
The bed is made. The room is tidy. The lights stay off. Days, weeks, or even months may pass without anyone stepping inside.
Then company arrives.
Suddenly the room comes to life.
Suitcases appear. Conversations last late into the evening. Laughter travels down the hallway. The house feels a little fuller than usual.
Guest rooms are temporary by nature.
People stay for a while, then leave.
In many ways, life works like that.
People enter our lives for different reasons and different lengths of time. Some stay forever. Others remain for only a season.
A teacher.
A coworker.
A neighbor.
A friend.
A mentor.
Each leaves something behind.
Maybe it's a lesson. A memory. A story. A different perspective.
The guest room eventually becomes quiet again, but the visit remains.
That's one of the beautiful things about temporary moments. They don't last forever, which often makes us appreciate them more.
If every visit were permanent, we might stop noticing how special they are.
A guest room reminds us that not every meaningful connection is meant to last a lifetime.
Some are simply meant to leave us a little better than they found us.
And sometimes that's enough.
Something to think about: Who is someone that was only in your life for a short time but left a lasting impact?
