Saturday: Burned Toast
DAILY BLOG
My post content
Nobody plans to burn toast.
It usually happens because we're distracted.
The phone rings. A thought pops into our head. We get busy doing something else and completely forget what's happening in the toaster.
A few minutes later, the smell reminds us.
Burned toast has a funny way of getting our attention.
Life does too.
Sometimes we become so focused on what's next that we stop paying attention to what's happening right now. We rush through conversations. Skip moments of rest. Move from one responsibility to another without slowing down.
Then something reminds us to pause.
Maybe it's burnout. Maybe it's stress. Maybe it's simply realizing another year has passed faster than expected.
The lesson isn't really about toast.
It's about attention.
The things we take for granted today can become the things we miss tomorrow.
A family dinner. A conversation. A quiet evening at home. An ordinary Saturday morning.
These moments don't seem significant while they're happening. They feel routine.
But routine has value.
The older we get, the more we realize that many of life's best memories were ordinary days that nobody thought to celebrate at the time.
Burned toast reminds us that distractions happen.
The challenge is making sure we don't miss too much while we're busy looking elsewhere.
Something to think about: What ordinary part of your life deserves a little more attention?
