A bookmark represents an intention.
It says, "I'll come back to this."
We place one inside a book and set it aside.
Tomorrow.
Next week.
Whenever we have time.
Most bookmarks mark a pause.
Not an ending.
Life contains bookmarks too.
Projects we plan to revisit.
Dreams we set aside.
Skills we once wanted to learn.
Conversations we mean to continue.
Not everything gets finished in one season.
Sometimes life requires us to pause one chapter to focus on another.
The danger comes when a pause quietly turns into a permanent stop.
Months become years.
Years become decades.
The bookmark stays exactly where it was.
The interesting thing is that many opportunities remain available longer than we think.
Not all of them.
But more than we realize.
A hobby can be restarted.
A friendship can be renewed.
A goal can be revisited.
A dream can sometimes be reopened.
The page may not be exactly where we left it.
But the story isn't necessarily over.
As long as we're willing to pick up the book again.
