Let Me See

Let me see.
How many times have we said those words?
Probably more often than we realize.
Sometimes we're talking about something right in front of us.
Other times, we're trying to understand a situation before making a decision.
Either way, seeing matters.
I've come to appreciate the simple fact that I can see.
It's something I don't take for granted.
Whether it's seeing the beauty of a sunrise, watching people go about their day, or simply recognizing the faces of those I care about, my eyesight is a gift.
But today's thought goes beyond seeing with my eyes.
I'm also talking about seeing clearly.
Seeing the situation.
Seeing the possibilities.
Seeing the outcome before making a decision.
Because although I certainly don't have the answers to everything, I've learned that when I can clearly see what's happening, I'm much better equipped to make the right choices.
I can take the proper actions.
I can respond instead of react.
I can do what I believe is best.
That's why I find myself saying, "Let me see."
Not because I'm delaying.
Not because I'm avoiding the situation.
But because understanding often comes before wisdom.
I don't enjoy being blindsided.
I don't think many of us do.
Finding out important information after the fact rarely feels good.
Learning that something could have been handled differently if only you had known sooner can be frustrating.
We've all experienced moments where we wished someone had simply told us.
Where we wished we had asked one more question.
Where we wished we'd seen the signs before everything unfolded.
Life has a way of teaching us those lessons.
Sometimes gently.
Sometimes not.
The older I get, the more I realize that clarity is valuable.
Not every decision needs to be rushed.
Not every answer has to come immediately.
Sometimes taking a moment to observe, to ask questions, and to truly understand what's in front of us is the wisest thing we can do.
There is strength in slowing down long enough to see clearly.
There is confidence in making decisions based on understanding rather than assumption.
And there is peace in knowing you've done your best with the information you have.
That doesn't mean life will always unfold exactly the way we hope.
It won't.
There will still be surprises.
There will still be unexpected turns.
But when we've taken the time to see what we can, we often move forward with greater confidence.
Perhaps that's what today's reflection is really about.
Not just seeing with our eyes.
But seeing with intention.
Seeing opportunities.
Seeing lessons.
Seeing people for who they truly are.
And sometimes...
Seeing ourselves more clearly than we did yesterday.
So before you rush into your next decision, your next conversation, or your next chapter...
Take a moment.
Look around.
Ask a few questions.
And if you need to...
Simply say,
"Let me see."
You may discover that clarity is exactly what you needed all along.
Have a wonderful Friday.
May your vision be clear, your decisions be thoughtful, and your day be filled with moments worth seeing.
Until tomorrow... take care.
