Friday: Car Radios

Few things trigger memories faster than a song.
One moment you're driving down the road.
The next, you're twenty years younger.
Back in a different house.
A different job.
A different chapter of life.
All because of a song on the radio.
It's amazing how music works.
We may forget names.
Dates.
Addresses.
Yet a familiar song can instantly bring back details we haven't thought about in years.
The people.
The places.
The feelings.
Music becomes attached to moments whether we intend it or not.
Road trips.
School dances.
Summer vacations.
Late-night drives.
Ordinary days that somehow became memorable.
The song stays.
The years pass.
Then one day the radio brings it all back.
Maybe that's why certain songs never grow old.
They're connected to pieces of our lives.
Every time we hear them, we revisit those moments for a little while.
The past can't be relived.
But every now and then, it can be remembered.
Sometimes all it takes is turning on the radio.
Something to think about: What song instantly takes you back to another chapter of your life?
