Being Nice Doesn't Make You Weak

Somewhere along the way, people started confusing kindness with weakness.
Let me clear something up.
Being nice doesn't mean you're a pushover.
Being kind doesn't mean you're afraid to speak up.
Being respectful doesn't mean you're unable to set boundaries.
In fact, some of the strongest people I know are incredibly kind.
The problem is that we're living in a time where being rude is often mistaken for being confident.
Someone speaks harshly and people call them "real."
Someone is disrespectful and people call them "honest."
Someone bulldozes over everyone else and people call them a leader.
No.
There's a difference.
You can be direct without being disrespectful.
You can be honest without being hurtful.
You can be confident without making others feel small.
What has always impressed me most isn't the loudest person in the room.
It's the person who can maintain their composure even when everyone else is losing theirs.
That's strength.
It's easy to be rude.
It takes very little effort to snap at people.
It takes no skill to make someone feel bad.
But it takes maturity to remain respectful when you're frustrated.
It takes character to treat people well when they can do nothing for you.
It takes discipline to respond thoughtfully instead of reacting emotionally.
Don't let the world convince you that kindness is weakness.
Some of the strongest individuals you'll ever meet are the ones who know how to control their words, emotions, and actions.
Being nice isn't weakness.
It's strength under control.
And that's a power many people never learn to master.
